History and description
The X 224 is part of a series of four railcars built in 1950/51 by SCF Verney in Le Mans.
It is now the only one to have retained its original exterior appearance, the others having been either modernised (X221 and X223) or destroyed (X222).
The interior was modernised in 1991.
Its 111 hp Willeme 517 F7 engine was replaced in the mid-1990s by a 235 hp M.A.N. engine.
It joined the Train du Bas-Berry fleet in 2004, where it was repainted in its original red and cream colours.
